Day 1 of Moscow in 20 Photos
Walking around and dining and restaurants is never as good as it is after 60 hours on a sweat train.
Graffiti is huge in Moscow and any open spaces are tagged.
Moscow is obviously a wealthy city. Expensive cars line the streets and around the rings of highways extending out from the Kremlin, these cars drive as fast as they can.
I haven't quite figured out why Moscow is so expensive, but in a recent study it was found to be the most expensive city in the world.
Only an hour after arriving in the city cops hassled us about our passports, stamps, and were nearly taken back to the station so we could pay ridiculous fines. Some Russians really know how to make a tourist feel welcome.
Moscow is not a tall city. Instead its buildings are wide and imposing giving the entire city with its wide roads a feeling of being extremely strong.
We stay on a main tourist drag similar to Las Ramblas in Barcelona. Street performers, various artists, and souvenir stands line the street looking to make a quick ruble.
Early in the morning the street was empty but by the early evening it was bustling with people from all over seeing and being seen.
As in any good tourist street, sunglasses were sold cheap and we couldn't help ourselves.
Two Russians are overcome by romantic thoughts in the company of such historical beauty.
One of the places I've always dreamed of visiting, St. Basil's Cathedral was even more striking than I had expected. We only saw it at night and tomorrow plan to spend the entire day roaming around it and the Kremlin.
Apparently Sara still thinks she's in Mongolia.
I've been working out daily to get that hour glass figure.
A detail of the Brazilian embassy. This neighborhood in Moscow has some of the most impressive, beautiful embassies I've ever seen.
In the Red Square, right next to St. Basil's Cathedral.
Romantic St. Basil's.
I've always dreamed of visiting St. Basil's and I can honestly say that it's one of the most striking churches I've seen in my life. We only walked around it late at night and plan to spend an entire day exploring it and the Kremlin tomorrow.
Night on the Moskva River.
A last look back onto St. Basil's at night.
