Irkutsk to Krasnoyarsk

Our train to Krasnoyarsk was delayed by nearly 3 hours and with little else to do we posted up at a restaurant to drink some beers and eat some sub par food. Sara's laundry wasn't quite dry yet so she took the opportunity to hang some of her clothes and her towel out to dry on a railing. A hour later her towel was missing and we were left wondering, "who the hell steals a towel?" We looked for several minutes before I happened to peek inside the trashcan to see the towel laying in a heap of garbage. While I would have left the towel right where it laid, Sara has some emotional attach to her towel I may not ever understand and it was saved from the trash and washed to dry again another day.
Also at the restaurant where three men from Mongolia. They spoke little English but asked Peter where he was from. When he answered New York City one of the men got very excited and explained that his daughter was living there as well. Amazed by the connection the old men took a great liking for Peter, asked for all of his contact information and hope that and expect that he'll actually meet up with the daughter upon returning to the city.
The 3rd class car on the Krasnoyarsk train proved to be one of the worst places for the three of us to make new friends. Most people ignored us while others gave us a Russian snarl. If it wasn't for these two cute girls who took a liking to us, we wouldn't have had a single friend on the train. We spent time on the train drawing pictures and slowly learning some Russian from them.

3rd class cars aren't made for men over 6 foot. It's more like a coffin than a bed. What this picture doesn't show is how bad my feet were cramped and how putrid the overall smell of the cabin was.
